Vijayakanth is busy again after Narasima. This time he plays the double-role in Thavasi with, of course, two heroines - Soundharya and Jayasudha. Nassar, Vadivelu, Nizhalgal Ravi, Thyagu, Delhi Ganesh, Ponnambalam, Sriman, Jagan, Scissor Manohar, Prathiyusha, Easwari Rao, Sowmya, Vadivukkarasi, Kuyili, Iswarya and Kanthimathi are in the cast.
And how can a Vijayakanth movie be without grand, grand, impressive and breathtaking sets? Kumbakonam Mahamaham tank was specially designed for Thavasi as its grandest set. Around 10,000 junior artistes participated in the holy dip. (The name Kumbakonam Mahamaham tank brings only one scene to the minds of all, of late. But you don’t know who took the holy dip this time! ;-)) There were grand sideshows like mayilaatam, oyilaatam, poikkal kudhirai, puli aatam, silambattam et al. Around 30 artistes performed them while nine cameras whirred from all directions to roll ‘em all.
Paa. Vijay has penned the lyric for the song sequence to mark the first scene in which Vijayakanth appears. Kala choreographed.
The first phase of shooting of Thavasi started in Chennai and continued in Pollachi and Udumalpet. Song sequences involving Vijayakanth and Soundharya were shot in Munnar, Palghat, Cannnore and Kodaikanal.
The team is moving in full speed as the movie is scheduled to be released for Deepavali.
