Parthale Paravasam

The shooting of 'Parthale Paravasam' is almost over. A much anticipated film, it being the 100th film of ace director K. Balachander and comes after a long gap after his 'Kalki'. The film has Madhavan-Simran-Sneha in the lead and the supporting cast has Vivek, Manivannan, lyricist Vaali, Damu, Charlie, Nizhalgal Ravi, Seema, Radhika Choudhary, and dance master Raghavendra Lawrence.

In the film Madhavan and Simran come as doctors. It is a love triangle with Madhavan and Simran's love messed up by the entry of Sneha with whom Madhavan has an affair. The film has music by A.R. Rehman with lyrics by Vaali and Vairamuthu. Cinematography is by A. Venkatesh and Raghunath Reddy. K. Balachander apart from directing the film also pens its story and screenplay, while the dialogue is written by Gopu-Bapu. The director's home production, the film is produced by his daughter Pushpa Kandasamy for their banner 'Kavithalaya'.

Editing is by Suresh Urs, artwork by Maniraj, and dance choreography by Brinda and Lawrence. Five songs were picturised recently at exotic locations. One of the songs was shot at the picturesque Fort of Kasargod, Kannur, in Kerala. Simran and Madhavan took part in the song sequence. While Venkatesh cranked the camera, it took five days to shoot the song. Yet another song 'Nee Thane Enn Desiya Geetham . . . ', was picturised on Madhavan and Sneha. Yet another lavish set was erected to shoot a song on Lawrence and Simran.

Damu appears as 'Chinna Annamalai' - a take off on the Superstar's role in Annamalai, and his scenes are expected to keep the audience in splits.

'Parthale Paravasam' is slated for a Deepavali release. Balachander is one director who has kept up with the changing times and trends in the industry, and despite being around for decades, never fails to throw a surprise. Not surprising then if this film is one of the most anticipated ones among the releases being readied for the festival.
